Today was a great day, but stressful. We had a lot of really fun family time with Jacob's family but Jacob wasn't feeling well. He is such a crank-pot when he is under the weather. When we got home, I made him go to the doctor, where he was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. To make it easier on him, I said I would go to grab the prescriptions. That was a disaster, too. I couldn't wait for the kids to go to sleep so I could drown myself in wine. Wait, I don't do that anymore.
So, I went out for a walk instead. On that walk, Bethany had a wonderful conversation discussing everything. She had had a rough week, too. No matter what, we both have faith in this journey and in each other.
One thing she said to me was to have no expectation of timelines. This kind of killed me because I am so very impatient. But, I am glad that she put it all into perspective. I cannot expect things to go as planned and will take them as they come. Boy am I a planner, though! I am crossing my fingers for "my" timeline, however, I know all of this is in God's hands and it will happen in His time.

progress!
Things may never be ideal or perfect for everyone. For me, I try to make the most of everything. I am in the most perfect and ideal spot for me and I cannot be more thankful. I am on the right journey at the right time and it is so much more than what will be given to B/P. I am getting healthier for myself and my family.
I made a goal last week to walk/jog 18 miles. Note, I made a monthly goal at the beginning of October to do a total of 38 miles (see the scaling down page). 18 in one week? That's nuts, but I was determined. I ended yesterday with a total of 18.5 miles for the week!!! Since I weigh in on Wednesday mornings, I went in so excited to step on that scale. Another 3 pound loss!
Anything is possible when we put our mind to it and limit the negative inner dialogue.
What is so cool about all of this is that I was getting bored on the treadmill. Yes, I would watch the news or SportsCenter or anything to keep me going, but it wasn't enough. You know what I have found that is perfect?!? Watching and listening to training courses that help me be a better professional, but more importantly, a better person. If I am not happy with my work and continually fighting to overcome my weaknesses, what is the point?
This morning all of this hit me hard as I was watching a course of self-improvement modeling. This resonated with me and I will leave it with you:
The Power of Thought - Walter Doyle Staples
When you change your thinking, you change your beliefs.
When you change your beliefs, you change your expectations.
When you change your expectations, you change your attitude.
When you change your attitude, you change your behavior.
When you change your behavior, you change your performance.
When you change your performance, you change your life!
What can you do to shift your thoughts and be the next best version of yourself?

motivation
B has been asking what she can do to help me lose weight. Well, I am pretty damned determined so I don't think there is much I need beyond staying in my current mindset. However, motivation to keep pushing is always welcome! Yesterday morning I woke up to two packages at the front door with these items!
I have never been one to keep up a food/exercise journal. I had never had a blog until now either. So, I am going to give it a whirl! I did not exercise yesterday but I am not disappointed. Sometimes we need a little break. Saturday, Gregory and I went for a walk (or "race") as he called it through the neighborhood. It was good to spend some one on one time with him while getting exercise in!
Started the week off right this morning - 2 miles on the treadmill accompanied by my new water bottle!
